ACU senior forward Peter Kiganya — who played most of his final season as a Wildcat at about 70-percent health because of a painful achilles injury — was named Monday first team all-Lone Star Conference South Division for the second straight season.

The only other Wildcat honored by the league’s coaches was sophomore center Josh Goellner, who was named honorable mention all-conference. Goellner averaged 7.2 points and 4.4 rebounds per game to earn the honor. Goellner, however, really picked up his game in conference, averaging 10.2 points and 4.7 rebounds in ACU’s 12 conference contests. He scored a career-high in ACU’s Jan. 27 win at Texas A&M-Kingsville, two days after recording his first career double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds against Texas A&M-Commerce.

Kiganya — last season’s LSC South Division co-Player of the Year and this season’s pre-season LSC South Division Player of the Year — led the Wildcats in scoring (16.4 ppg) and led both the team and the LSC in rebounding (10.6 rpg). He turned in his career-high in rebounds on Feb. 17 when he grabbed 22 in the Wildcats’ victory at Eastern New Mexico.

Kiganya recorded 13 double-doubles during his senior season, and was just starting to play some of his best basketball as the season ended.
