KEN – Nairobi Names Final Team For Inter Cities

NAIROBI – Nairobi have named the final men and women’s team for the East and Central Africa Inter Cities championships that starts in Kampala, Uganda on Wednesday. The teams were due to depart from the Kenyan capital yesterday night by road to the Kampala show that throws off at the Lugogo Indoor Stadium and YMCA Wandegeya courts.

National coach Thomas Olumbo has been putting the players through their paces at the Nyayo National Stadium was optimistic that despite short training schedule, the players would do well. Nairobi Basketball Association (NBA) chairman Ronny Owino, while naming the final squad after the last sessions, wished the teams well and asked them to bring both trophies to Nairobi.

Mombasa (men) and Dar es Salaam (women) are the defending champions. Other teams that have confirmed participation are Kisumu, Mwanza, Mbeya, Bujumbura, Kigali, Jinja and host Kampala. The players men: Ben Oluoch, Lewis Muya, Patrick Kirui, Sam Ouma, Furaha Odari, Peter Kiganya, Ancette Wafula, Moses Shida, Vincent Ambani, Victor Odendo and Abel Nson.

Women: Evalyn Kedogo, Hilda Luvandwa, Angela Luchivya, Lorraine Achieng, Carol Ouma, Caroline Achieng, Joyce Makungu, Eunice Ouma, Treaza opudo, Evalyne Achieng and Lucy Wanjiku. Coaches are Thomas Olumbo, Eliud Nzioka and George Mayienga. Team managers, Sylvia Njeri, Dann O’Werre and Steve Nyakina, Doctor Ken Shikuku and Stasistician Joseph Onyango.
